The Myton Hospices is a charity that provides palliative and end of life care through three hospices in Coventry & Warwickshire. In addition to its clinical & admin staff, it is supported by 400 volunteers based in the hospices and its twelve shops.
Requirements
Myton required a number of improvements to its existing accounting package, Sage Line 50. The system was slow and only offered twelve accounting periods, whereas the shops’ accounting required 13 four-week periods. Myton also required more detailed analysis of expenditure including the ability to analyse by a number of sub-groups, which was not possible in Line 50.
Furthermore, they were producing specialist reports that could analyse income according to the differing sources (shops, personal donations, legacies etc). This essential management information needed a more robust platform because the reports were slow to run and Line 50 frequently locked out users.
Solution
Sage 200 provides a reliable, adaptable platform from which to manage Myron’s accounts. The Sage 200 Financials bundle allows flexible consolidation of accounts, meaning that all companies can be measured individually and on an aggregate basis.
Myton is now able to measure revenue by shop and costs by locations and department, which they were unable to do with Line 50. Sage 200 users can decide which type of accounting periods to use, enabling four-weekly accounts to be implemented if needed. The software utilised Microsoft SQL Server, providing an extremely stable and reliable base. The bespoke reports were easily transferred to the SQL database, resulting in much faster reporting.
The Suite was implemented, full training given and Dayta continues to support Myton Hospice with additional reporting development as required.
